The Fiery Shadow; El Shaddoll Grystal

As I read the spoilers for V Jump July 2014 edition, my eyes stumbled at one card that is listed as one of the spoilers for the issue. It's none other than the new fusion monster of the infamous Shadoll archtype: the El Shadoll Grystal.

at first I thought that he (or she??) is some kind of Fairy type monster lol, it
doesn't really resemble a Shadoll monster until I notice the strings on his back :p

The effect for El-Shadoll Grystal itself hasn't yet to be translated and uploaded officially into yugioh.wikia.com, but according to the source site The Organization, here's the following card details and effect:

El Shadoll Grystal
7 FIRE Rock-Type Fusion Effect Monster
ATK 2450
DEF 1950
1 “Shadoll” monster + 1 FIRE monster
Must first be Fusion Summoned. You can only use the (1) effect of “El Shadoll Egrysta” once per turn. (1) When your opponent Special Summons a monster: Negate that Summon, and if you do, destroy it. Then, send 1 “Shadoll” card from your hand to the Graveyard. (2) If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 “Shadoll” Spell/Trap Card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.

Grystal can be dangerous as his summoning negation ability means that he also negates the monsters's effects that triggers upon summoning such as Bureido or Black Rose's. His grave-dumping ability is also superior compared to Nephilim's as he's able to activate this effect every single turn. However, just like Moonlight Rose Dragon, he suffers greatly from his mandatory status, which means that whenever a monster is special summoned to the opponents side of the field, the player who control Grystal has no choice but to activate the effect to negate the summon, even though the summoned monster may be just a decoy monster.

Grystal and Midrash are made for each other, and together, this combination of fire and shadow is terribly, horrifyingly deadly. Despite the chance for both monsters to be summoned during the same turn are relatively small, Midrash, thanks to her immunity towards destruction, is more likely to stay in the arena for quite some time, allowing the player to gather the resources he need to summon Grystal.
Once they've been paired, it's almost impossible for a player to destroy either one of them through monsters' attacks or effects, except of course, if you had monsters like Ryko or Shadoll Dragon/Lizard.

Now how to put Grystall in a deck? Since it requires a fire monster as one of the fusion requirements, obviously we have to put at least one fire-attributed monster. While there are a lot of fire monsters out there, one of the monsters which I remembered directly whenever the word "fire" is spoken is none other than the king of fiery dragon himself:

If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can banish a total of 2 FIRE and/or Dragon-Type monsters from your hand and/or Graveyard, except this card; Special Summon this card. During your opponent's End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Return it to the hand. You can discard this card and 1 FIRE monster to the Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. If this card is banished: You can add 1 FIRE Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use 1 "Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

In the Shadollsworn build, not only Blaster is the key tool to search Judgment Dragon (in combination with Eclipse Wyvern), it is also one of the easiest access to rank 7 xyz monsters. And because Grystal himself is a level 7 monster, in case of emergency you could always summon Blaster to have it overlayed with Grystal to summon Big Eye or Dracossack, while also adding Judgment Dragon(s) to your hand.

While prior to Grystal's release Shadoll Fusion's reach is limited only to light and dark monsters, by having Grystal joined the squad, the fusion spell has become much more flexible. While I'm sure that there are dozens of fire monsters that will make fascinating combos in conjunction with Grystal and the Shadoll archetype, this combo is one of the most basic ideas that I could think of for this current moment. This also due to the fact that The Organization themselves had just posted the spoiler list today.

But in the end, as always, the possibility is limitless as Yugioh is always about creativity!!
